Myofascial Release

Myofascial release is a gentle, hands-on technique which involves the application of a light pressure directly to the skin, without the use of creams, oils or tools. Your therapist can manually feel these tissue restrictions and will hold these fascial stretches until a release is achieved.

What is Fascia?
Fascia is a continuous matrix of fibrous connective tissue that covers every muscle, bone, nerve, artery, vein and organ within our bodies, including our heart, lungs, brain and spinal cord. Fascia has the appearance similar to a spider’s web—it is very densely woven and is ceaseless from the tip of our head to the tips of our toes. Our entire body is connected thru the continuous flow of fascia, like the yarn of a sweater.

Fascial restrictions within one part of our body can restrict mobility not only within that area, but can lead to functional limitations above and below. These restrictions can form following trauma, surgical procedures, compensated movement patterns or poor postural patterns.
